Maiya Williams grew up in New Haven, Connecticut and Berkeley, California. She went to Harvard College where she received an AB with honors in American History and Literature, and where she was the first black woman and first black literary editor elected to the Harvard Lampoon. She moved to Los Angeles where she currently writes and produces television shows, including Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, MAD-TV, The Wayans Brothers, The Wanda Sykes Show, and Futurama. Maiya is also a novelist. Her published books include her award winning time travel trilogy, The Golden Hour Trilogy, as well as The Fizzy Whiz Kid, and Kaboom Academy. She is currently a Trustee for the Harvard Lampoon and volunteers as a mentor for WriteGirl. Maiya has three children. She lives with her husband and a large Chow-Husky in a house between the Santa Monica Mountains and the sea. She enjoys hiking, traveling, playing harp and piano, reading, fighting for social justice, and protecting the environment.
