Samara Atkins has been dancing and teaching hip-hop since 1999 and finds pure joy in sharing her love for dance with others. She has been technically trained in ballet, jazz, and hip hop, while her focus over the last 8 years has predominantly been urban street styles and social dancing. She has been a director, choreographer, and dancer of various dance companies, such as Howard University’s Vizion Performance Team while attending, Mix’d Ingrdnts, and dancer of New Style Motherlode, Diamond Dance Company, Neopolitan, St. Mary’s Dance Ensemble, and Carla Service’s Dance-A-Vision.
Samara is Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of the mixed genre dance collective Mix’d Ingrdnts, with a mission to educate, inspire, and empower women, youth, and the community. She is also choreographer and member of the Grammy-nominated children’s music group Alphabet Rockers.
Traveling to international destinations to showcase, teach, and share her love of movement with other cultures, her passion is to inspire people to move no matter what age or skill level, and to have fun while doing it. She currently teaches adult hip-hop classes around the Bay Area at In the Groove Studios and Destiny Arts Center.
